Energy conversion and storage: hydrogen - fuel cells - batteries
Nombre de places: 50 - Langue: English
Objectifs
The objective of this week is to make students aware of energy issues from the perspective of electrochemical devices for energy conversion and storage (battery, fuel cell, supercapacitors). The use of hydrogen as a new energy carrier will also be discussed.
At the end of the training, students should be able to :
- Describe a fuel cell and explain how it works
- Name the different battery systems and list the advantages and disadvantages of the different devices
- Discuss the role of temperature in a fuel cell: supply and brake
- Describe a battery and explain how it works
- Name the different battery systems and list the advantages and disadvantages of the different devices
- Discuss the difference between battery/supercapacity
- Explain the contribution of hydrogen in the energy mix (safety and energy)
- List the main H2 production processes and the advantages and disadvantages of each.
- List and compare the different storage techniques (be able to make a simple volume calculation, etc.).
Evaluation
Multiple choices questions and short open questions - online evaluation.
If possible, practicals or case study with specific articles
